hiatus.

so once again i'm on social networking hiatus. twitter is seriously distracting and addicting it makes me so unproductive.

anyway i'll be posting my weekly goals here from now on.

Goals
1.) Learn and retain at least five Kanji (Japanese First Grade Level)
2.) Demonstrate retention of katakana/hiragana.
3.) Learn at least ten important vocabulary words.
4.) Only use the Twitter created to tweet in Japanese.
5.) One Rosetta Stone lesson a day.
6.) One Japanese drama episode/movie a day.
7.) Continue Human Japanese.
8.) Review Pimsleur lessons for retention.

So until i'm satisfied with my goal list, I won't use Twitter.

my face since I've been slacking on the Japanese. I think I'll leave Twitter for the weekends. I'm do unproductive whilst using it.

twitter is for twats

I cheated and used Twitter today ;____; forgive me but I really missed my followers, anyway i'm halfway done with katakana now and the Twitter hiatus is back on. A word to the wise (aka people studying Japanese just like me) stroke order is EVERYTHING. Please learn the proper stroke order for kana or else you'll get stuck in doing it the wrong way which means you'll overall be fucked.

Stroke order, stroke order, stroke order. I recommend this site to help you with that.

Oh yeah,I made a new twitter specifically to tweet in Japanese. I haven't used it much yet (due to my hiatus) but I plan on using it for that from now on.

美しい Hawaiian そらです。

I'm aware I post tons of pictures of そらとつきです but I can't help it, look how gorgeous nature is.

still studying katakana, it's fairly easy as long as you don't think of the words being spelled out as English words. They're more like Japanese versions of English words....so I just treat them as Japanese words.

やった!

with four hours of dedication (seriously it's almost 7am and I haven't slept a wink) I've mastered the muddled sounds!

with the help of this site it's safe to say i'm cool with hiragana.

すごい!

by the way, I know hiragana and katakana are fairly easy and it's the kanji that's a bitch - but i'm really proud of myself for accomplishing this.

*pats self on back*

time to put my siblings on the bus, then sleep, then i'll wake up and conquer katakana.

がんばります!

gonna dedicate one more day to hiragana, the muddled sounds are killing me.

そらはあおいとむらさき!うつくし!

The beauty of Hawaii in the morning.

Drop.

Just finished watching Drop on Netflix. It was the Funimation dub (boooooo) but it was surprisingly funny and not too bad. Also while I knew Hiroki Narimiya starred in this, Hiro Misushima was a wonderful surprise. He's so handsome, it shouldn't be legal. Anyway I recognized a ton of the voices (i'm certain one of the voice actors did a character for Heatguy J) but I'm downloading the original Japanese version now :).

In short, I loved this movie ♥.

EDIT: Watching the subbed version now. The dub was surprisingly accurate :)

しんちょく!

I've imposed a social networking ban until I master hiragana and katakana. I've made great progress, my penmanship is horrible but I've got stroke order down. I'm almost done with Hiragana, I still get some characters mixed up but that's okay I suppose.

こんばんわ!

はじめましてわたしは Brittany です!

As you can see I'm currently learning how to read, write, and speak Japanese. While I generally still fail at it, I've learned a lot by putting myself on a social networking hiatus (no twitter, or facebook only Tumblr because I run: boys of nippon and how to gyaru and Tumblr generally serves as a therapeutic outlet of sorts for me). Anyway i'm learning and I'm enjoying it.
わたしは日本語が習っています。(I am learning Japanese).
日本語がすごいです。(Japanese is great).

I have a basic grasp of vocabulary and sentence structure and I just want to become better at it. I'll use this blog to mark/update my progress. And hopefully I keep at it. I'm not really good at sticking with things but I've been studying Japanese for a while so I really want to stick with this.

お願いします.
